Thule Universal Flat Top 4 w/Locks

The Thule Flat Top is a classic car top ski and snowboard mount. The Flat Top's sandwich design fits any shape of ski or snowboard without adjustment, and you can mount the Flat Top to almost any rack thanks to Thule's universal Fat Mouth clamps. Oversized release buttons are easy to hit with gloves or mittens, and the heavy-duty aluminum body won't mind you tossing your planks in roughly. Lock the Flat Top with Thule lock cores to keep your gear safe. This mount comes in two sizes so you don't have to buy more than you need. The four-ski capacity holds approximately two snowboards, and the six-ski capacity holds three boards. Mount the Flat Top high on your vehicle roof to flip over boards with bindings, and double your fun.

Bottom Line: Bring your planks to the mountain with the Thule Flat Top Ski Rack.

Does anyone know if this can fit 4 snowboards (snowboards put together kinda like skis) let say if you have a lot of clearance between the roof and the boards?

Yes, it can. The only thing to watch out for is that you have enough clearance between the rack and the roof of your car/truck. On some vehicles the cross bars sit very low, or if you have bindings that don't fold down very flat you may have issues. It'll work in most cases, so I'd give it a shot.

Mounted on a VW Rabbit

By:
November 21, 2008

I have a 2008 VW Rabbit with factory cross bars, the Thule Flat came with screws that were too short to connect the top and bottom clamps, but Thule happily overnighted me a longer set free of charge. Overall, an excellent product with excellent service behind it.

You will have to get after-market horizontal bars for these to fit. Bars that go the same as the seats inside.

This ski/board carrier is nice looking as well as practical. My older version fits only Thule bars, but the latest version has a universal bar clamp that works with Thule, Yak, and most factory cross-bars, Nissan Xterra excluded. Easy installation, but don't lose the included Torx tool. It's similar to a hex, or Allen wrench, but fits only Torx head screws and it has a "security" feature, which is a tiny hole in the middle that mates to a pin on the Torx head screw. It makes it hard for a thief to steal your Thule ski/board carrier, but also makes it hard for you to remove it if you don't have the tool. In fact, it's darn near impossible. Locks are included, a nice touch. Lifetime guarantee--keep your receipt.

Hi... I am currently researching ski racks. I have a Volvo SUV XC 90 with factory racks. Do I need to purchase cross bars in order to use the Thule Universal ski rack? Are there ski racks that mount to any car without the additional cost of cross bars? Thanks.

Does you Saturn have a roof rack? If it does, you should be golden, unless you car is really old and has a wildly different rack design than current vehicles.

That's a pretty loaded question. The rack holds 4 pair of skis, but only if your skis happen to be the straight über-narrow ghetto-ass skis that your parents rode on. Don't expect to get more than 3 pair of fatties in here.
